SUBJECT: Required Paperwork for Incoming Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, and Ponies
When trailering Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, and Ponies to HORSESHOE INDIANAPOLIS, you must use the Pull
Over Lane even if you are stabled here. Trailers must park in the Pull Over Lane to hand in the required
paperwork at the Stable Gate; once you are finished at the Stable Gate, you can proceed from the Pull Over Lane to
your destination in HORSESHOE INDIANAPOLIS’ Barn Area. Please inform anyone who is trailering for you of this
mandatory directive.
NOTE: HORSESHOE INDIANAPOLIS will begin random spot-checks on incoming trailers to make certain the
paperwork presented to the Stable Gate represents the Thoroughbreds and/or Quarter Horses on that trailer.
All Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses shipping in for training must be identified. Please ensure the paperwork
presented to the Stable Gate represents the Thoroughbreds and/or Quarter Horses entering HORSESHOE
INDIANAPOLIS’ Barn Area.
Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, and Ponies arriving without current health certificates will not be allowed
entrance to HORSESHOE INDIANAPOLIS’ Barn Area; you will be turned away at the Stable Gate. IHRC licensed
veterinarians will not issue health certificates at the track.
Trainers must provide the following [to the Stable Gate] each time a Quarter Horse and/or Pony ships to
enter HORSESHOE INDIANAPOLIS’ Barn Area:
• Current negative Coggins test in the past twelve (12) months.
• All Quarter Horses shipping in from Indiana must present a Health Certificate issued within thirty (30)
days of entry and out of state must present a Health Certificate issued within seventy-two (72) hours of date
of entry.
• All Health Certificates require a statement of Equine Herpes Vaccination (EHV-1) and date, administered a
minimum of fourteen (14) days and no more than one hundred and eighty (180) days prior to entering the
Barn Area.
• Any Quarter Horses arriving without current health certificates will not be allowed entrance to HORSESHOE
INDIANAPOLIS’ Barn Area.
All racing, training, hair testing and stabled Quarter Horses are required to have a negative Equine Piroplasmosis
test to enter the Barn Area at HORSESHOE INDIANAPOLIS;the test must have been drawn and dated in 2025.
Trainers must provide the following [to the Stable Gate] each time a Thoroughbred and/or Pony ships to
enter HORSESHOE INDIANAPOLIS’ Barn Area | HISA Requirements:
