Ballots have been mailed for the 2013 election for H.B.P.A. President and Board of Directors. If you are eligible to vote and haven’t received your ballot, please call the office at 618-345-7724 or e-mail ilhbpa@aol.com Ballots will be counted on June 16.

GOOD NEWS AND MORE GOOD NEWS!!!!!

First of all after four years of hard work by a lot of people the Fairmount Second Chance Ranch at Vandalia Correctional Facility is reality. We delivered the first six horses on Monday. The response from the inmates and the staff was overwhelming. The horse loved being turned out in the pasture of lush green grass. We will now continue to install more fence and continue to give our Fairmount horse the home after racing they deserve.

Then today we passed the major slots bill out of committee and then on the Senate floor. The bill now goes to the House and upon passage to the Governor. All in all it’s been a good week for our horsemen. I’ll keep everyone informed each step of the way.

There will be a general meeting to nominate candidates for President and Board of Directors for the H.B.P.A. It will be Wednesday April 17 in the Black Stallion Room at 6 pm.

Fairmount opening day cancelled!!

Due to the 14″ of snow it will not be possible to have a safe surface to race on for Tuesday the 26th. Crews are working non stop to try and get the track ready and clear all areas for our patrons. The track will also be closed for simulcasting on Tuesday and will reopen Wednesday. We will keep you informed as to the status of Friday night racing. We do expect to be racing.
