Doctor Liechty Passes Away

Donald W. Liechty, DVM of Wood Dale Donald W. Liechty, DVM was born October 3, 1950 in Decatur, IN to E. Gordon and Myrtle (nee Kolb) Liechty. He died August 4, 2013 at his home in Wood Dale. Don graduated with a doctorate of veterinary medicine from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. He was a graduate of South Adams High School in Berne. During his career, Don also practiced in North Carolina and Bennington, VT. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters and his children. He also loved to travel and scuba dive. He was on the Board of Directors for Galloping Out, Thoroughbred Rescue Fund. Don is survived by his daughter Caitlin (Joshua) Zahn of Aurora; son Joshua Liechty of Wood Dale; sisters Sharon (James) Vanlandingham, Columbia City, IN; Susan (Raymond) Christian, North Judson, IN; brother Michael Dean Liechty of Geneva, IN; granddaughters Cheyenne and Savannah Zahn of Aurora; nephews John (Amy) Kolb of Kouts, IN; Michael (Lauren) Liechty of Converse, IN; Brandon (Jazmyn) Liechty of Berne, IN; Matthew (Andrea) Christian of Goshen, IN; Benjamin (Beth) Christian of Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and E. Gordon Liechty; maternal grandparents Titus and Priscilla Kolb and paternal grandparents Robert U. and Emma Liechty. Visitation Wednesday August 7, 2013 from 3 PM until the time of funeral service at 8 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. Interment private.
