In a surprise move President Cullerton has just sent S.B. 744 to the Governor’s desk. This is the major gaming bill including slots at tracks that was held last year in a motion to reconsider the vote. Tonight is the last night of the 97th General Assembly which means that if the Governor should veto the bill, the 98th General Assembly cannot override the veto. They will be sworn in tomorrow at noon.

What does this mean? I have some ideas but it will be best to hear the Governor’s response and let this play out.

5/31/2011 Senate Motion Filed to Reconsider Vote Sen. John J. Cullerton
1/8/2013 Senate Motion Withdrawn Sen. John J. Cullerton
  1/8/2013 Senate Passed Both Houses
